Nuclear Privatisation (No. 3)

That this House is appalled that the Government is prepared to sell-off British Energy for as little as ú1.26 billion even though this is less than half the value that was originally placed on the company by the Government's own advisers Barclays De Zoete Wedd and about 30 per cent. of the cost of Sizewell B; is further appalled that generations of taxpayers yet unborn will be left with a clean-up cost of many úbillions; regards this privisation to be most ill-considered; and calls for the National Audit Office to be instructed to immediately examine the full implications of the sale for future taxpayers before any further steps are taken to complete the sale of the people's assets.
