TECHNICAL AND SAFETY PROBLEMS WITH AGR'S

EDM number 1069 in 1995-96, proposed by Michael Clapham on 27/06/1996.

That this House is extremely concerned by reports that six out of the seven AGR's in the British Energy privatisation package have fuel pin problems which scientists working at the stations claim present a potential safety hazard and that because of imminent privatisation the problem and its consequences are being covered up; and, therefore, calls on Her Majesty's Government to abandon the sell off, not least because of the huge technical and safety questions that have now arisen.
