Financial Position Of Childline

That this House recognises the valuable work undertaken by Childline, offering thousands of children throughout Scotland and the rest of the United Kingdom advice and counselling each day; notes the campaign being run by Scotland on Sunday highlighting fact that 7 out of 10 callers cannot get through to Childline, that they cannot afford enough phone lines or to train the required number ofvolunteer counsellors to cope with children in desperation and that the service was in danger of closing down last year because of inadequate funding; and calls on the Government to immediately provide additional resources for this highly valued charity.
