Postal Services In Scotland
EDM number 104 in 1995-96, proposed by Michael Connarty on 22/11/1995.
That this House condemns the apparent intransigence of the Post Office management in Scotland on the issue of job cuts in the Postal Service; also condemns their threat to use contractors to strike break rather than continue negotiations with the workforce; emphasises the public nature of service delivered by the Post Office; congratulates the public and the workforce for their recent actions in resisting the privatisation of their service; and calls on the Government to remind the management of the Post Office that they must adhere to the present terms of their delivery agreements, shelve their job cut plans and negotiate the future delivery agreements in a responsible manner.
