Notification For Consumers And Health Professionals
EDM number 1023 in 1995-96, proposed by Nigel Griffiths on 19/06/1996.
That this House notes with concern the failure of the present system adequately to notify general practitioners, nurses and others of any possible contamination of foodstuffs; notes that two months after the Government circulated information on phthalate contamination in manufactured baby milk, the British Medical Association, the Royal College of Nursing and the Royal College of Midwives complained that inadequate information had been supplied; further notes that the Royal College of Nursing complained that the Government seems unable to produce an effective means of rapidly updating health professionals and has seriously let down nurses by the lack of information; and calls on the Government to review its system of notifying health professionals and the general public of contamination in foodstuffs.
