Donations To The Greenwich Millennium Bid
EDM number 1002 in 1995-96, proposed by Ken Purchase on 17/06/1996.
That this House is alarmed to learn from the Sunday Times that a link may exist in the minds of certain captains of industry between personal or corporate donations of ú5 million or more towards reviving the Greenwich Millennium bid and the future award of a peerage; and calls on the Government to ensure it is fully understood that such awards are the sole prerogative of Her Majesty the Queen.
