Award Of Aldermaston Occupational Health Service Contract To Trident Medical;services Ltd (No. 2)
EDM number 980 in 1994-95, proposed by Rhodri Morgan on 05/04/1995.
That this House calls on the Government to reverse the award of the Aldermaston Occupational Health Service contract to Trident Medical Services, since it was so blatantly won by underhand means; notes that the award of the contract was rushed through in five weeks instead of the usual three months, thereby preventing any proper calculation of transferred redundancy and pension entitlements in consultation with the Government Actuary as required under the TUPE regulations; calls upon the Secretary to the Cabinet to debar Dr Anderson from any future involvement with any governmental occupational health matters; calls on the Director of Public Prosecutions to investigate whether the circumstances of his suspension by Dr McCloy indicated the obtaining of a pecuniary advantage by unlawful means; recognises that there is no place of work anywhere in Britain where occupational health issues are of more vital importance than in the Atomic Weapons Establishment; calls on the Government to admit that this whole unsavoury episode has brought the whole of the market-testing into absolute disrepute; and calls on the Nolan Committee to conduct a full investigation.
