That this House is concerned at recent trends in higher education which show total full-time entrants mainly higher education students studying in further education colleges have fallen by one per cent. in the current academic year and who tend to be adult learners who need to study locally for domestic reasons and who in future will be adversely affected by the Government's decision to abolish the mature students' allowance, which will seriously inhibit those who have been in employment over a number of years and have greater financial responsibilities to meet when they give up work for full-time study.
