That this House congratulates the College of Speech and Language Therapists on its golden jubilee this year; recognizes the dedicated work of the college's 6,000 members who strive, in many different ways, to assist the 2.5 million people in the United Kingdom with communication difficulties; commends the college for its introduction of a voluntary registration scheme aimed at ensuring a high standard of professional and clinical conduct among its members; acknowledges the college's support for members of the speech therapy profession who are actively involved in research work; and applauds the way in which, over the past 50 years, the college has worked to develop both the scientific and the caring aspects of the profession.
