South Kent Hospitals Nhs Trust And Delays In Hospital Treatment
EDM number 886 in 1994-95, proposed by Rhodri Morgan on 23/03/1995.
That this House deplores the collusion between the South Kent Hospitals NHS Trust and certain general practitioner fundholders in Herne Bay, Canterbury and Whitstable to keep information from patients that their to-come-in dates were being delayed until the start of the new financial year as part of those fundholders' attempts to curtail activity for financial reasons; believes that the reasons for the delayed treatment are unacceptable and that insult has been added to injury by denying patients the right to know the reasons for the delay; and urges the Secretary of State for Health and the Cabinet Minister responsible for open government to investigate the reasons behind this appalling conspiracy of silence.
