Food Superstore At Halfway And Ppg 6 And 13

EDM number 885 in 1994-95, proposed by Clive Betts on 23/03/1995.

That this House recognises that the change of policy identified in PPG 6 and PPG 13 was promoted as leading to a new emphasis on the preservation of town and local shopping centres and less development of out of town shopping centres where access by public transport was poor; views, therefore, with alarm the acceptance by the Department of the Environment's inspector of the appeal lodged for an out of town food superstore on a greenfield site at Oxclose Farm, Halfway, Sheffield, against the advice of local councils, shops, schools and hundreds of local residents; believes that such an important decision should not have been delegated by the Secretary of State; and calls on him to intervene if his new policy guidance is not to be seen as worthless and irrelevant.

This motion has been signed by a total of 19 MPs.
