North West Water Charges

EDM number 854 in 1994-95, proposed by Ann Coffey on 20/03/1995.

That this House condemns the 8.3 per cent increase by North West Water to 95 per cent of their customers for water and sewerage charges; further notes that this is two and a half times the level of inflation, and condemns this exploitation of the domestic customer by a privatised utility and the negligence of the regulator in allowing this exploitation to take place; and demands that he reviews his capping formula immediately to ensure that all customers benefit from North West Water's huge overseas investment programme and the profits being made by the company.
