Firearms And Explosives Amnesty
EDM number 84 in 1994-95, proposed by Eric Clarke on 22/11/1994.
That this House is appalled by the recent upsurge in violence in the United Kingdom involving the use of firearms and explosives; believes the use of such dangerous devices to either kill or injure people should be dealt with by the judicial process with the utmost severity; and calls upon the Home Secretary and the Secretaries of State for Scotland and Wales to declare immediately, for a limited period of time, a firearms and explosives amnesty in England, Scotland and Wales, and to impose heavier sentences on anyone caught in the illicit possession of such dangerous weapons or substances, with maximum sentences being levied upon anyone caught carrying such arms with intent to use them in a criminal act.
