Student Grants

EDM number 784 in 1994-95, proposed by Jimmy Dunnachie on 13/03/1995.

That this House deplores the fact that so many students are forced, through financial circumstances, to take part-time employment during the academic year; feels that this will result in many students obtaining poorer results than their abilities would otherwise determine and, as a consequence, the country will be worse off; and demands therefore, that Her Majesty's Government introduces measures to restore student grants to levels which can maintain students without their having to resort to supplementing their monies with part-time earnings in term time.
