Butane Lighters And Solvent Abuse

That this House is concerned that there is no code on lighter manufacturers to print warnings on their products; recognises that 38 per cent. of the deaths from butane abuse are by children experimenting for the first time; believes that printed warnings would alert young people and parents of the dangers of solvent abuse and remind shop keepers that it is illegal to sell such substances to people if they believe that abuse will take place; and calls on the Government to place a legal obligation on lighter manufacturers to print warnings on their products.
