Merchant Banking

EDM number 756 in 1994-95, proposed by Martin Redmond on 08/03/1995.

That this House regrets the fall of the banking house of Barings, the manner of its demise, the losses incurred by charities and public authorities and the potential long-term damage it could do to the London money market; but believes that whilst merchant bankers are prepared to employ poorly educated, low qualified, individuals such as those seen daily in posts of seniority, such disasters are inevitable.

This motion has been signed by a total of 15 MPs.
