Official Receivers

That this House is amazed to learn that the Government intends to privatise the functions of official receivers in the United Kingdom; views the contracting out of such services to the private sector as ill judged and against the public interest; believes that insolvency services should continue to be run in the public sector on the impartial basis of safeguarding and realising assets, the independent appointment of trustees/liquidators and the investigation of the causes of insolvencies and any fraudulent activity which may be connected with such matters; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to desist from this path which can only lead to more ruin, lost jobs and less investigation of fraudulent activities in Britain.
