Education Cuts

That this House regrets the Government's decision not to fund the 2.7 per cent. pay award which was recommended by the Teachers' Pay Review Body and accepted by the Government; notes that the average local authority grants have risen by only 1.8 per cent. this year leaving a massive short-fall; and believes that the effects will be millions of pounds cut from the local education authority and school budgets, thousands of redundancies among teachers and larger class sizes, which will have an adverse effect on educational standards.
