Provision Of School Meals

That this House congratulates Bradford Metropolitan Council on plans to commemorate W. H. Sykes, who in 1887 as Head of Wapping School in Bradford instituted the first school meal s service in Britain; notes further that the scheme was adopted in all Bradford schools in 1902 but ruled illegal by the Government of the day; and condemns the application of compulsory competitive tendering to today's school meals service which causes nutrition, value and health of children to be sacrificed on the altar of price.
