Misbehaviour Of Football Followers In Dublin
EDM number 630 in 1994-95, proposed by Tony Banks on 16/02/1995.
That this House condemns without reservation the thuggish behaviour of a minority of English football followers in Dublin; believes that prompt and tough action must be taken against them, including prosecution in the English courts, even though the offences were committed in Dublin, confiscation of passports, life-time bans from football grounds, banning the display of national flags by supporters and an end to the playing of national anthems before matches; and considers that only the most rigorous measures against these mindless thugs will convince genuine supporters that politicians and the football authorities are determined to restore the once good name of English soccer.
