Crime Prevention And Small Businesses
EDM number 625 in 1994-95, proposed by Mike Hall on 15/02/1995.
That this House notes that any measures taken to protect business premises from intrusion will increase the value of these premises for rating purposes and this means that small businesses are not only the victims of crime but are also penalised financially when they take steps to combat crime; and therefore calls upon the Government to back small businesses in their fight against crime by disregarding the value of all security measures implemented by small businesses when assessing the rateable value of such premises.
This motion has been signed by a total of 61 MPs.
