That this House condemns the actions of the Scottish National Party for recklessly including in its 1994 Grampian Regional Election Manifesto a pledge to pay each pensioner in the area a cash sum of ú10, either knowing this was illegal or without checking the legality beforehand; regards the duplicity of the SNP in this matter as a cynical manoeuvre to gain votes from the elderly; and calls upon the SNP to apologise unreservedly, especially now that it has belatedly abandoned the policy.
