Bingo Clubs
EDM number 524 in 1994-95, proposed by Alan Meale on 31/01/1995.
That this House is aware that at the moment bingo clubs in Britain cannot advertise in the broadcast media and so are prohibited from telling the public about individual outlets or prizes; is also aware that much speculation abounds that Her Majesty's Government is seriously considering allowing football pools companies to advertise on television and radio in order to redress the imbalance caused to the gaming industry by the introduction of the National Lottery; believes that in an environment where the National Lottery, premium bonds and possibly in the near future, football pools, should have unrestricted ability to advertise, it is clearly anomalous that bingo clubs, which of all the players in the leisure industry are most clearly regulated, do not; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to ensure balance across the whole of the soft gaming industry by allowing bingo the same opportunity as others in the field.
This motion has been signed by a total of 46 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
