Burmese Aggression Against The Karen People

That this House is appalled at the Burmese Government's recent invasion and capture of Manerplaw, the last rebel stronghold of the Karen people, who have been fighting for more autonomy since 1948; notes that the attack has forced up to 10,000 refugees across the border into Thailand and that the Burmese military uses forced labour to carry their stores and ammunition; calls upon Her Majesty's Government to take a firm stance with regard to the gross human rights violations by the Burmese military junta; and urges the Government of Burma to halt its aggression against the Karen people and to recognise their aspirations.
