Beaches Of Britain
EDM number 500 in 1994-95, proposed by Tim Rathbone on 26/01/1995.
That this House appreciates the importance of clean beaches to health, wildlife and tourism; commends the Marine Conservation Society and the Readers' Digest for their nationwide beach-cleaning campaign; and urges local councils in whose areas the dirtiest beaches have been identified to improve their efforts and to encourage voluntary efforts to clean them up and bring all British beaches up to the high standard of the best.
