Ministerial Severance Payments

EDM number 484 in 1994-95, proposed by James Wallace on 25/01/1995.

That this House is dismayed by the news that Lord Wakeham has taken a seat as a non-executive director of Rothschilds Bank with a salary of an estimated ú50,000; notes that Lord Wakeham received ú13,000 in Ministerial severance pay when he stood down from the Cabinet last July; condemns the increasing trend of ex-Conservative Ministers who find employment on the back of experience gained and contacts gleaned during their time in office; and calls on Lord Wakeham to pay back the ú13,000 he received from the taxpayer.

This motion has been signed by a total of 24 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
