Paradise Lost - A Review Of UK Primate Research
EDM number 349 in 1994-95, proposed by Alan Meale on 10/01/1995.
That this House congratulates the British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection for its report, Paradise Lost. A Review of UK Primate Research, which exposed the use of non-human primates used for research in the United Kingdom; notes that the report gives evidence of invasive research using primates in over 30 United Kingdom laboratories, including some in universities, hospitals, commercial ventures and government institutes; applauds in this way the activities of the BUAV against the use of primates in experiments; and believes that Her Majesty's Government should learn from their work and quickly take action to move towards the day when highly intelligent and sensitive creatures are no longer used in such often painful and distressing research.
