Taking Evidence In Public

That this House notes the Dail Eireann Sub-Committee on Legislation and Security, inquiring into the collapse of the last Irish Government and the extradition of Brendan Smyth, is taking evidence in public; further notes the proceedings, including evidence from senior politicians and officials, are attracting considerable public interest and media coverage; is pleased public hearings are generating intense public debate about future democratic structures in Ireland; and hopes that the Committee of Privileges will follow the excellent example set by the Irish Parliament and decide to take evidence in public during its current and future inquiries.
