Export Of Live Calves

EDM number 337 in 1994-95, proposed by Chris Mullin on 10/01/1995.

That this House congratulates those who have been peacefully demonstrating at Shoreham in protest against the export from that port of live calves; calls upon the people of Shoreham to make clear to their elected representatives that they do not support the use of their port for this evil trade; calls upon the local authority in Shoreham to follow the example of local authorities in Carlisle, Humberside and elsewhere and to end the use of their port for the export of live animals; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to take whatever steps are necessary to forbid the export of live animals for slaughter and for imports of veal to be either banned or clearly labelled so that consumers are made clearly aware of the methods by which this meat is produced.
