Corruption At Brent Irish Centre (No. 2)
EDM number 336 in 1994-95, proposed by Ken Livingstone on 10/01/1995.
That this House invites Brent Council to make a full report on the following matters of public concern: why its Director of Education in his memo to the Chief Executive of Brent dated 4th June 1993, claimed 'there is no indication of impropriety in the group's (BICCA) audited accounts for 1991-92', why Brent's auditors failed to interview the architect or site agent involved in the work on the Irish Centre, why councillors at the Meeting of the Education General Purposes sub committee of 6th April 1994 accepted the auditor's report into the 1991 Capital Grant of ú137,000 without seeking further information into the irregularities itemised in EDM 334, why the report of the quantity surveyor into these matters was not passed to concerned members of the public who requested this document from the Director of the Voluntary Sector Team although Brent's Chief Executive has ruled that these were public documents and could be disclosed, why the initial request of the Charity Commissioners raised the matter a second time and why the Charity Commissioners were told by the Director of the Voluntary Sector Team that he could not see why the Commissioners needed to continue their investigation into BICCA's affairs as none of the allegations had any substance to them.
This motion has been signed by a total of 2 MPs.
