Saving Open Spaces
EDM number 32 in 1994-95, proposed by Eddie Loyden on 16/11/1994.
That this House is concerned that local authorities are compelled to sell off open spaces due to Government cuts in their funding; notes that open spaces provide recreation and 'lungs' for housing estates; further notes that the sale of open space land threatens the future use of school playing fields which is covered by Greenwedge Policy; and calls on the Secretary of State to carry out a full and urgent investigation into the sale of open space land with a view to maintaining existing open spaces in the public interest.
