Hampshire County Council And Grant Maintained Schools

That this House congratulates Hampshire County Council on exposing excessive claims by grant maintained schools for pupils taking school meals; notes that three schools had made inflated claims totalling ú25,000; believes that the system for calculating school meals payments is open to widespread abuse and lacks the rigour and control applied to local education authority schools; and calls on the Funding Agency for Schools and the Department of Education to change the rules to prevent any similar abuses of public money.
