Taxis Extra Charges For Guide Dogs
EDM number 240 in 1994-95, proposed by Greville Janner on 12/12/1994.
That this House congratulates the vast majority of taxi drivers who willingly take guide dogs on board, without extra charge, but condemns without reservation the cruel minority who do not, for other than their own medical reasons; calls on the Transport Secretary to introduce legislation to require all taxis to carry guide dogs without extra charge, unless the particular driver can prove a medical allergy to dogs; and commends Mr Day, a constituent of the honourable Member for Leicester West, who was deeply distressed by such behaviour and is campaigning against it.
