Export Of Live Animals And Shoreham Port Authority
EDM number 21 in 1994-95, proposed by Andrew Bowden on 16/11/1994.
That this House is concerned that once British animals reach the Continent they face welfare standards which can be appallingly low both during transport and at slaughter; calls on Shoreham Port Authority not to permit the port to be used by vessels carrying live animals; is appalled that British farmers are still trying to export live animals despite widespread public opposition to the trade; and calls on Her Majesty's Government to press other EU countries to bring long distance transport to an end throughout the EU and replace it with a carcass trade.
This motion has been signed by a total of 65 MPs.
