Scottish Air Traffic Control Centre And Passenger Safety

EDM number 171 in 1994-95, proposed by Andrew Welsh on 01/12/1994.

That this House is concerned that the Government consultation on air traffic control privatisation has delayed vital investment in ATC equipment which could seriously affect passenger safety; believes that this delay will mean the delay of the building of the new Scottish air traffic control centre; notes that this will mean the new ATC centre at Southampton, for flights over the United Kingdom south of Manchester, will not be properly used; further notes this could mean the Southampton ATC centre having the capability of sending more air traffic north of Manchester than the Scottish air traffic control centre can handle; and calls on the Government to allocate sufficient public funds to remove this danger to passenger safety by building the new Scottish ATC centre immediately.

This motion has been signed by a total of 21 MPs.
