Dail Eireann And Transfer Of Patrick Kelly
EDM number 1532 in 1994-95, proposed by Jeremy Corbyn on 27/10/1995.
That this House warmly welcomes the decision of the Government of the Republic of Ireland to ratify the European Convention on the Transfer of Prisoners from 1st November 1995; further recognises that the peace process will be greatly facilitated by the early transferring of prisoners between Northern Ireland, Great Britain and the Irish Republic; notes specifically that this decision by the Dail Eireann will allow on humanitarian grounds the transfer of Patrick Kelly, currently in HM Prison Whitemoor, to Ireland; further notes that this prisoner is seriously ill and his family, who are all resident in Ireland, have been requesting an early transfer for him to achieve this; and finally urges the Home Secretary and his equivalent in Dublin to commence steps for such an immediate transfer.
This motion has been signed by a total of 9 MPs.
