Funding Of Schools

EDM number 1483 in 1994-95, proposed by Simon Hughes on 18/10/1995.

That this House recognises that the funding of schools must take into account the rise in pupil numbers, the arrangements for children with special needs, the expansion of early years education, the repair and improvements to school buildings, school support services, the previous year's funding and teachers' pay awards; urges the Government to review the funding of education to ensure long-term stability in schools to meet those needs; and calls upon the Government to provide the necessary resources in its Financial Statement and Budget for 1996-97 so that all schools are funded adequately to provide high quality education for all children.
