Deportation Of Leading Saudi Dissident
EDM number 144 in 1994-95, proposed by George Galloway on 28/11/1994.
That this House expresses its grave concern at the decision by the Home Secretary to refuse political asylum to the leader of the democratic Saudi opposition movement, Dr Muhammed Al-Massari, a physicist living in London, and to order his deportation; considers that this decision will be seen as an act of craven cowardice in deference to the pursuit of arms and other lucrative contracts with the Saudi dictatorship; notes that Dr Al-Massari was recently targeted, according to Scotland Yard, for assassination by a Saudi hit squad at large in London and that this deportation may well cost him his life; and reminds Her Majesty's Government that today's Saudi opposition may well form the democratic government of Saudi Arabia in days to come, once the corrupt family business of the Al-Saud collapses under its own rottenness as the Peacock Dynasty of the Shah of Iran collapsed before it.
