Taxation Of Executive Share Option Schemes
EDM number 1439 in 1994-95, proposed by David Shaw on 19/07/1995.
That this House notes that these schemes were not confined to high earning directors and that many hundreds of thousands of lower and middle income clerical, administrative and factory workers have been included in such schemes; believes that option schemes which motivate such employees and enable them to personally be financially interested in the financial performance of their companies over the option schemes' typical three to seven year lives should be encouraged; is concerned that retrospective legislation which could effect share options granted many years prior to the tax change is not justifiable or fair; and asks the Chancellor of the Exchequer to modify any such legislation in the light of his overall objectives for the 1995 budget.
