leave out from `regrets' to end and add `that Ealing Council under Labour control left a deficit in reserves of ú12,000 plus loan debt of ú158 million, borrowed and wasted between 1986 and 1990; further regrets the dishonesty of the present Labour council in saying that it inherited a deficit of ú15 million in May 1994, using this fiction as a pretext to sack 300 people, to cut services, including old people's homes, to close the award winning Ealing Training and Development Centre for teenagers and to raise the council tax by 10 per cent in April 1995, despite the repayment of ú75 million of Labour debts by the Conservative Council of 1990 to 1994 and the bequeathing by that council to its successor Labour administration of ú43,682,000.'.
