Reorganisation Of Dss Executive Agency
EDM number 1304 in 1994-95, proposed by Alan Meale on 27/06/1995.
That this House is concerned about the Government's plans to restructure the Contributions Agency, the DSS Executive Agency with responsibility for the collection of national insurance contributions and administration of the national insurance system; believes that these plans will unleash a series of major cuts in the national network of field offices and a reduction in the service provided to the public which include inspectors undertaking regular visits to employer and the self employed; further believes that by reducing the network of field offices the agency would then not be able to meet its obligations for national coverage as stipulated by the National Audit Office, whilst also giving free rein to those seeking to avoid their legal liabilities; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to abandon this stupid and irrational review which can only lead to the undermining of the nation's national insurance system.
