Crime, Racism And The Home Office

That this House condemns the witch-hunt by Home Office officials, led by Ms Jill Arnfield of the Immigration and Nationality Division, against 600 employees of Hackney Council with African names; is dismayed that Home Office staff have colluded in a number of unlawful and criminal acts, including theft of a disc from the personnel department of Hackney Council, breaches the Data Protection Act 1984 and the illegal release and use of confidential information concerning individuals; notes that having been caught out, the Home Office, which is responsible for law and order, is refusing to co-operate fully with an investigation to catch the criminals and to explain the Home Office role in the affair; understands that the information was unlawfully provided to the Home Office by supporters of Mr Bernard Crofton who is currently under suspension by Hackney Council; notes that Mr Crofton's associates have now shown themselves up in their true colours and to be barmy, racist and criminal in character; and calls on the Commissioner of Police for the Metropolis to investigate the crimes and the role of the Home Office in them and on the Commission for Racial Equality to investigate the Home Office, which does not seem to care any more about law and order or the liberty and freedom of individuals.
