Violence At Brent Council Meetings

EDM number 1271 in 1994-95, proposed by Ken Livingstone on 20/06/1995.

That this House deplores the behaviour of Conservative councillor Reg Colwill at the meeting of Brent Council on 19th June where he physically attacked three local residents who were campaigning for the rights of the disabled; notes that he concentrated his blows on the woman involved rather than the two men who were with her; hopes that the local police will bring charges based on the statements that they took from the victims and Councillor Colwill; and calls on Councillor Colwill to resign from the Council and the Conservative Party to expel him from membership.

This motion has been signed by a total of 19 MPs.
