Sam Rainsy

EDM number 1217 in 1994-95, proposed by Chris Mullin on 08/06/1995.

That this House has learned with concern of moves to expel the former Finance Minister of Cambodia, Mr Sam Rainsy, from the National Assembly; notes that no provision exists in the constitution of Cambodia for the expulsion of an elected member from the National Assembly; calls on the President of the National Assembly, Mr Chea Sim, to uphold the constitution and to protect the right of Mr Rainsy and other members of the assembly to express their views freely; and further calls on the Government of Cambodia to uphold the right of free speech for all its citizens.
