VAT Relief For Chapels And Churches On Building Renovations
EDM number 1098 in 1994-95, proposed by Dafydd Wigley on 09/05/1995.
That this House believes that the value-added tax system should be amended to enable chapels, churches and other buildings used for recognised religious purposes to be relieved of VAT charges on building repair and renovation work; and, in view of immense financial pressure on many denominations and the cultural, architectural and community importance of many such buildings, as well as their religious significance, calls on the Government to introduce amending legislation in the next Finance Bill.
