Boxing
EDM number 1090 in 1994-95, proposed by Jimmy Wray on 09/05/1995.
That this House recognises the benefits of the sport of boxing in that it instils in young people values of self-discipline, self-esteem, respect for others and better nutrition and hygiene, which remain with them for the rest of their lives and has long been a source of national pride and unity; and, while recognising the dangers that have occasionally occurred in the pursuit of this sport believes that it is best that the British Boxing Board of Control, the Amateur Boxing Association and other interested parties engage in dialogue in order to bring about new ways of making boxing as safe as possible, rather than the impractical alternative of banning it altogether.
