Aviation Access Rights And Airline Subsidies

EDM number 1080 in 1994-95, proposed by Christopher Gill on 02/05/1995.

That this House urges Her Majesty's Government to reject moves by the European Commission to interfere with negotiations between the United Kingdom and the Government of the United States of America over aviation access rights between the two countries; notes that more than ú5 billion has been spent on state aid to European airlines since 1991; believes that the European Commission should concentrate instead on ensuring the removal of state aid which distorts the market, diminishes incentives for State-owned airlines to become efficient and results in a bad deal for passengers; and calls on the European Commission to reject Spanish plans to inject further aid into Iberia, Spain's national airline.

This motion has been signed by a total of 23 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
