Social Trends In Strathclyde Region

That this House deplores the widening gap between rich and poor in Strathclyde Region as detailed in Strathclyde Regional Council's recently published Survey of Social Trends; demands that urgent action be taken by Her Majesty's Government to close this gap and restore hope to those who are caught in the nightmare of the region's growing poverty trap; and calls on Her Majesty's Government to reorganise economic resources in a manner that will ensure greater social justice and so end the process whereby the rich get richer and the poor poorer.
