Trial And Error And The Case Of Brian Parsons

EDM number 1020 in 1994-95, proposed by Paul Tyler on 24/04/1995.

That this House welcomes the painstaking investigation of the case of Brian Parsons undertaken for the Channel Four programme Trial and Error, of 26th April 1995, and for the Westcountry Television programme A Matter of Time, 24th April 1995; acknowledges the high reputation of the Devon and Cornwall constabulary both in relation to its own operations and in its role as independent investigator of possible miscarriages of justice in other police forces; and urges the Chief Constable of Devon and Cornwall to invite another force to undertake just such an inquiry into the full circumstances of the case against Brian Parsons to re-establish confidence in that reputation.

This motion has been signed by a total of 21 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
