Iqbal Masih And The Plight Of Child Labourers

That this House condemns the brutal murder of Iqbal Masih, a 12 year-old boy from Pakistan, who from the age of 4 years until he was 10 years, worked 10 hours a day weaving carpets while only earning one rupee a day under abysmal working conditions and eventually became an articulate and eloquent crusader on the plight of child labourers; and calls upon the Government to demonstrate its opposition to the exploitation of children by restricting the import of carpets made in Pakistan and all other countries where child labour is employed.
